Smithtown West (N.Y.) sophomore midfielder Christian Zawadzki has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Maryland.

What will you major in/study? “At this point I am strongly considering majoring in Physical Education. I would love to teach and coach in the future.”
Why did you choose school? “The main reasons I choose the University of Maryland were the academics, coaches, facilities, and location. Coach (John) Tillman, Coach (Ryan) Moran and Coach (Kevin) Warne are great and made me feel so comfortable. During my visit to campus, I immediately felt so welcomed by the team and staff. I loved the campus and academic opportunities that Maryland has to offer me for my future education.”
What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “We are returning a great group of seniors and many underclassman with great experience. We expect to be a strong team that will go very far this season.”
Other comments: “I want to Thank my family, and coaches. My brothers, Anthony and Kyle have always helped me train and taught me so much. My Dad has always worked and trained with me, to help me to develop as as athlete. My Mom always supports me in everything I do. Coach (Sean) Keenan (Smithtown West) was a huge influence and great coach for me since 5th grade. My grandparents and family have also always helped support me. Thank You!”
