Nick Fairley
High School: Mount Saint Joseph
Graduation Year: 2012
Position: Midfield
College Choice: Sacred Heart
Club Affiliation: Wolfpack, MSJ Summer Lax
Major lacrosse honors: Free State, Adidas, Under Armour, Shoot out by Brine, King of the Hill
Academic honors, service projects: Honor Roll, Leadership Council, Big Brother Program
What will you major in/study? Business
Why did you choose Sacred Heart? “I looked at several schools during the recruiting process. At first I started looking at the schools and ranking them based on previous lacrosse records. I verbally committed early to Stonybrook University. When they had a coaching change I was released of my commitment and I decided to take a different approach to finding a college to attend and play lacrosse. I started looking at where I felt most comfortable even if I was not playing lacrosse. That led me to Sacred Heart. I really felt comfortable with coach Tom Mariano and the rest of the staff and my potential teammates. It was a hard decision but I feel confident that I made the best choice for me.”
What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “Even though MSJ has not had much success over the past few years. I feel that can change in 2012. Coach (Dave) Slafkosky has done an excellent job building the program. We are extremely fortunate to have him head up our coaching staff. We have a very talented attack. Our Midfield lines are balanced and our defense is young but coming along. This being year two with coach Slaf, I feel we better understand his system.”
Additional comments: “I would like to thank my parents Darryl and Kedre Fairley for always helping me pursue my lacrosse dream.”
