Severn School junior midfield Rachel Steinberg has committed to play Division I lacrosse at the University Oregon.
Rachel Steinberg log:
High School: Severn School
Graduation Year: 2013
Position: Midfield
College Choice: University of Oregon
Club Affiliation: CC Lax Black
Major Lacrosse Honors: Maximum Exposure All-Star Team, Four varsity letters.
Academic Honors: Honor Roll, Headmasters’ List
What will you major in/study? Physiology
Why did you choose Oregon? “I’m the type of person who knows exactly what I want, so when I first stepped foot on University of Oregon’s campus I immediately fell in love. I fell in love with not only the campus, but also with the area of Eugene, Oregon, the academics, and the athletics of the school. Oregon blew all the other schools I was looking at completely out of the picture. After visiting the University of Oregon, it seemed completely unnecessary to look at other schools, or to even consider other schools. Additionally, I feel completely confident that I will live a well-rounded, happy life at Oregon.”
Other schools considered: University of Richmond, University of Boston, High Point University, Coastal Carolina, Villanova.
What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “All of us are really excited for the upcoming season. We lost a lot of talent from the graduated class of 2011, so this year is going to be a growing season. However, we have a lot of incredible players who are excited to play, and we have two amazing coaches who are both super supportive, and always encouraging.”
Additional Comments: “I would love to thank my friends and family, all of whom have been so supportive throughout my recruiting process. Also, a big shout-out goes to my club coach, Sue Chittim, for being so patient, and for always supplying encouragement.”
