Senior Erica Matz scored with 22 seconds left to cap a furious comeback and give host Bryn Mawr School a dramatic 14-13 triumph over St. Stephens’ and St. Agnes (VA) today in a girls’ lacrosse game involving two national powers.
Bryn Mawr (2-0) was trailing 12-8 late in the game but Kate Snouffer found Caroline Turco (three goals) to make it 12-9 and Snouffer then found Kassandra Bowling (four goals) to make it 12-10.
Besser Dyson fed Carly Reed (six goals) to give the Saints (2-1) a 13-10 edge, but Turco and Bowling converted free position shots to make it 13-12.
Snuffer then tied it with 1:44 to play and after the Saints committed a yellow card, Matz scored the game-winner.
