From Press Release

Lightning Lacrosse Elite, a leader in girls’ lacrosse recruiting events, recently held a recruiting camp at Gettysburg College from July 9-12 featuring rising sophomores, juniors, and some seniors from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Illinois, and Florida.

Lightning Lacrosse Elite coaches (front left to right) – Christie Barnes (Haverford College), Alex Monday (Yale Univ.), Courtney Farrell (Cortland State Univ.), Barb Jordan (Gettysburg College), Hanna Rudloff (Drexel), Alice Lee (Amherst College), Susan England (Whittier College), Marisa Marcellino (Gettysburg College), and Liz Filgueras (Salisbury State Univ.).

The camp featured 75 top high school players who are looking to play high level DIII lacrosse or at a select few high academic DI programs. The players were coached during each skill and playing session by top college coaches. Lightning Lacrosse’s staff featured coaches from Gettysburg College (’10 National Champs), Trinity College (’11 National Champs), Salisbury State Univ. (’09 National Champs), as well as coaches from other top programs (Amherst College, Cortland State, Johns Hopkins, Yale Univ., Drexel Univ., Messiah College, York College, Haverford College, Whittier College, Adrian College, Elizabethtown Univ., and Washington College).

Lightning Lacrosse Elite college coaches offered a recruiting seminar for both players and parents to help educate them on the do and don’t of the recruiting process, important dates to consider within the recruiting process, and personal advice. The seminar took place right after check in which gave parents the opportunity ask many important questions and learn directly from the Lightning Lacrosse Elite staff.

Lightning Lacrosse Elite placed each player on a camp team consisting of players from other areas of the country and players played with that team throughout the camp with a camp champion crowned at the end. Each team was coached by college coaches which gave the players an opportunity to learn from elite coaches in game scenarios. The camp also featured skill clinics in the morning where the college coaches ran shooting drills, defensive footwork drills, goalie drills, and half field competitions.

Girls from Maryland who stood out at camp were: Sydnie Abrecht(Gerstell Academy), Sarah Almony (Hereford HS), Sarah Ashwood (Hereford HS), Kate Dolinar (Northern HS), Brooke Kovinsky (Hereford HS), Alexandra Larkin (St. Paul’s School), Jesse Lynch (Hereford HS), Casey Webbert (Gerstell Academy)

Lightning Lacrosse owner Sean Furber summed up the experience:

“We feel that many players are not getting the proper exposure at some of the tournaments they play in during the summer so we wanted to offer them a more intimate experience. We also made it a goal to invite several like minded college programs to one location so they could recruit players specifically interested in their schools.”

Overall, the camp gave the players the opportunity to interact with college coaches, learn on and off the field from the college coaches, and showcase their skills in front of some great programs.

Lightning Lacrosse Elite will be offering a winter camp in the Northeast over Martin Luther King weekend for players who are looking to play top tier DIII lacrosse. If you are interested in this event please visit www.LightningLax.com and click on Lightning Lacrosse Elite.
