Manheim Township (Pa.) rising junior attack Gabby Cardina has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Why did you choose the school? “I felt it was a perfect fit for me because UMBC has everything I need to be successful in both my lacrosse career and my education. I admire UMBC’s high-level academics and its convenient campus. Also, I love the coaches and am excited to continue playing lacrosse as a Retriever!”

Outlook for 2013 HS season: “My goal for this Spring is to go undefeated and keep our league and district titles.”

Other schools considered: Lehigh, High Point

Other comments: “I’d like to thank my coach, Mark Pinkerton, for being a great coach and always pushing for my success; my parents for being my biggest fans; and my teammates because I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls to enjoy the sport with.”
