Men’s recruits: Bonacci (St. Mary’s) leads freshmen class at Yale

Ten newcomers join the Yale men’s lacrosse team as it prepares to defend its 2011 Ivy League Tournament Championship and return to the NCAA Tournament. There are two attack men, six middies and two defensemen among the class of 2016.

Head coach Andy Shay’s freshmen come from seven different states including a pair from California and the first Yale lacrosse player from Texas.

The new Bulldogs add to a squad that won 11 games – including nine straight – knocked off Cornell and Princeton in the Ivy Tournament and earned its first NCAA appearance in 20 years. The Elis have won 31 games over the last three seasons and have qualified for the first three league tournaments.

Here are the 10 Yale freshmen looking to add to the recent success at Reese Stadium.
