Girls’ recruit: Georgetown gets commitment from Miller Place (NY) junior attack Ierna

Miller Place junior attack Kristen Ierna has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Georgetown University.

College Choice: Georgetown University

Club Affiliation: Long Island Top Guns

Major lacrosse honors: 8th grade Varsity lacrosse player, Outstanding Attacker award 2010-2012. Attended University of North Carolina, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Northwestern and University of Virginia camps. Also, participated in the Northstar Invitational in Lake Placid, summer 2012.

Academic Honors: National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, Treasurer of Student Government, High Honor Roll, Honor Roll, Member of the National Society of High School Scholars, National Social Studies Award.

What will you major in/study? “Considering majoring in Business.”

Why did you choose Georgetown? “I chose Georgetown because of it’s outstanding academics and competitive lacrosse program. Head Coach Ricky Fried was also a reason. He is well respected in the lacrosse community and I look forward to playing for him. Also, I found Washington, D.C. to be an exciting and opportunity filled environment.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next season? “Our outlook is to make the playoffs with the potential to advance to the Suffolk County Championship.”
