Boys’ recruit: Westminster junior midfielder Hursey commits to Georgetown

Westminster junior midfielder Ryan Hursey has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Georgetown University.

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: Midfield

College Choice: Georgetown University

Club Affiliations: Chesapeake Rock 2014, 2013 elite teams. POE all-star team.

Lacrosse honors, camps:
Freestate top 22 rising Sophomore, Freestate top 22 rising Junior, Under Armour, Gait Cup all-star, Brine Shootout Champion, King of the Hill champion, Champ Camp, Tri-State, All-County, 32 goals 20 assists for 2012 season. Maryland State Champion runner up.

Academic Honors:
National Honor Society, Straight A honor roll all semesters at high school. Top 20 GPA in class.

Planned major: Dentistry or Business.

Why did you choose Georgetown? “Georgetown is one of the best academic institutions in the country, along with being located in an area near major cities and having a great lacrosse tradition. Georgetown has a combination that any student-athlete would want in a college.”

HS team’s outlook for next season: “We should be very good in the 2013 season as we return all but three starters on a team that went to the state championship in 2012.”

Other schools considered: Towson, Yale, Bucknell, Maryland, Ohio State.

Other comments: “A very large thanks to my parents and God for supporting me. Special thanks to Steve Defeo, Jeff Doolan, Jeff Flaig and the entire Rock organization.”
