Boys’ recruit: South River senior goalie Gavin commits to Furman

South River senior goalie Jake Gavin has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Furman University.

Major Lacrosse Honors: 2012 King of the Hill All Star, 2012 4A/3A State Champion

What will you major in/study? Computer Science

Why did you choose Furman? “Great academic University. The chance to start a new DI lacrosse program
The chance to play for Coach (Richie) Meade.”

Outlook for your High School team? “Our goal is to repeat as the 4A/3A State Champion.”

Additional Comments: “I would like to thank Coach Meade for giving me the opportunity to play at Furman. I would also like to thank my club coach, Coach O’Rourke, who taught me to play with confidence and passion.

“I would also like to thank my father, Tim Gavin, who has coached me from youth lacrosse through my high school club lacrosse at T2 Lacrosse. He taught me the fundamentals and skills necessary to compete at the highest levels and always believed in my skills.”
