Zoe Stukenberg had the game-winning and game-tying goals and finished with six goals and five assists as host Marriotts Ridge (MD) defeated Mt. Hebron (MD), 13-12, in four overtime periods Friday in a monumental battle of highly-ranked girls’ lacrosse rivals.

Stukenberg, signed with Maryland, scored the game-winner with 1:13 left in the fourth overtime period. She had sent the game into OT by tallying the tying goal with 1:02 left in regulation and also had the assist on Jenna Kerr’s buzzer-beater to tie the game at 12 in the first overtime.

Mt. Hebron’s Sam Brookhart (six goals, one assist) gave the Vikings the lead with 10.6 seconds left in the first overtime, but Stukenberg won the ensuing draw and after a timeout with 2.8 seconds left she hit Kerr on the crease. Kerr immediately shot and just beat the buzzer to tie the game.

No. 8 Marriotts Ridge improved to 11-0 while No. 6 Mt. Hebron fell to 10-2. The Mustangs’ win avenged a loss to the Vikings in last year’s Regional championship game.

Marissa Davey added three goals and Kerr had two for Marriotts Ridge and Rachel Ortell had nine saves. Jen Giles had three goals for Mt. Hebron.
