Towson University women’s lacrosse coach Sonia LaMonica announced that seven talented players signed National Letters of Intent for the 2014 season. Six of the seven players are from the state of Maryland.

“I’m eager to welcome this year’s incoming class to campus in the coming weeks,” said LaMonica. “This is a group of players we are very excited about. As a coaching staff, we work hard to identify not just talented and skilled individuals both academically and athletically, but great people who share in the vision and values we have set for our program. I am confident that our class of 2017 will make an incredible addition to our Tiger family and I can’t wait to get started!”

Sam Brookhart (Mt. Hebron H.S./Ellicott City, Md.) will join the Tigers following four years as a varsity starter at midfield. A two-time team captain, she led the county in draw controls and her team in points as a junior. Brookhart led her team to the county championship as a sophomore and a regional championship last season. She also played basketball and field hockey at Mt. Hebron. Brookhart led the field hockey team to the state finals as a junior. Brookhart was a second team all-county selection for field hockey this past fall.

Jessica Carder (Westminster H.S./Finksburg, Md.) brings talent to the Tiger line-up as she can play both midfield and attack. A Chesapeake Conference honorable mention selection, Carder played with current Tiger Kelly Murkey at Westminster.

A threat at both attack and midfield, Gabby Cha (Mount de Sales Academy/Glenelg, Md.) was named her team’s MVP following her junior season. Cha also played golf, tennis and basketball at Mount de Sales Academy. She was a two-time captain for the basketball team, who was named the MVP this past winter and a two-time all-star on the tennis courts.

Jordan Clarke (John Carroll School/Perry Hall, Md.) will add talent to the Tigers’ defensive unit. A four-year varsity player, she was a member of the Under Armour All-America Baltimore Underclassmen team in 2012. Clarke also earned all-county honors and was part of the U-15 TLC National Team. She earned all-county honors in soccer and served as the indoor varsity soccer captain for two years. Clarke was an IAAM “A” Conference All-Conference honoree for indoor soccer in 2012-2013.

An attacker, Michaela Duranti (St. Anthony’s H.S./Farmingdale, N.Y.) has three years of varsity lacrosse under her belt. She was a member of the 2012 Brine All-American Long Island team. In 2011, Duranti was part of the School Girls National Team representing Long Island. She was an honor roll student at St. Anthony’s.

Another member of the recruiting class from the state of Maryland, Kelly McQuilkin (Atholton H.S./Columbia, Md.) will provide help and depth to the Tiger defensive unit. McQuilkin was a three-year varsity starter who earned all-county honors in each of the last two seasons. She was part of the Under Armour All-America Underclassmen Baltimore team in 2011. McQuilkin was also a four-year starter and all-county selection for the field hockey team at Atholton.

The final member of the recruiting class for 2014 is midfielder Colby Unkle (Manchester Valley H.S./Manchester, Md.). Unkle was a three-time all-conference and all-county selection. She holds the school scoring record at Manchester Valley and was twice picked to present Baltimore Metro in the women’s national tournament. Unkle also played field hockey and runs track for Manchester Valley. She helped the field hockey team capture the regional championship and was a first team all-county and all-conference selection.
