Academic Honors, Service: First Honors every quarter at Gonzaga; Regularly participate in food and clothing drives and support Special Olympics events.

What will you major in/study: “I am undecided at this point, though I tend to enjoy liberal arts courses (e.g., history), a little more than hard sciences and math.”

Why did you choose the school? “For three reasons. First, it is a top academic school, and I really like the academic freedom it offers to explore a wide variety of courses. Second, I enjoyed my time with Coach (Lars) Tiffany and have total confidence that he (and Coaches Turner and Boyle) will put a very competitive team on the field every year that competes for an Ivy title and an NCAA berth. Third, I really enjoyed the players I spent time with when I visited, which confirmed for me that Brown attracts well-rounded, and grounded, students.”

What is your team’s outlook for next season? “Under Coach O’Neill, Gonzaga has had a great run with four straight WCAC championships and top 5 national rankings. While we graduated a lot of terrific players last year, we have a lot of younger guys who are very hungry. I am optimistic that we will have a very successful 2014 campaign.”

Other comments: “I have been blessed to have received great coaching since I was in third grade in the Bethesda and Club Blue programs, including from Coaches Cave, Dubick, Alt, Don Giblin, and Dugan. I have also been lucky to be a part of the Greene Turtle program, where I have received great coaching by Andy Hilgartner, Trey Whitty, and Billy Glading (among others). My school teams have also allowed me to learn the game from great coaches; in particular, Kevin Giblin (at Mater Dei) and Casey O’Neill (at Gonzaga). I also need to thank Austin and JR Bordley, who have really helped me develop my game. Special thanks to Coaches O’Neill, Hilgartner, Whitty and Giblin, who helped me through the process, and to my two sisters and parents, who have enabled my passion for lacrosse. Finally, lacrosse is a team game, and I have to thank my teammates who make me look good, even when I throw a bad pass, including the Gonzaga crew and all of my boys on The Turtle.”

Other schools considered? “I principally considered Navy, Dartmouth, and Cornell and think the world of each of them and their staffs. They are each great.”
