Boys’ recruit: Saints Peter and Paul 2015 attack-midfielder Sovero commits to Towson

Saints Peter and Paul High School (MD) junior attack-midfielder Matt Sovero has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Towson University.

Position: Attack/Midfield

College Choice: Towson University

Club Affiliation: Chesapeake Rock 2015 Elite

Major Lacrosse Honors: Varsity starter as a freshman, combined for 78 goals and 38 assists freshman and sophomore year. Named All-Conference as a Sophomore. Represented Team Maryland on Brine National Team and was named an All-Star. Named All-Star at Baltimore Summer Kickoff. Selected on National All-Star Team for Madlax Rock.

What will you Major in? Business

Why did you choose Towson? “Towson is a great school and the perfect location for me and my family. My mother played for Towson and I wanted to continue the tradition. My visit was great and I really enjoyed the team and the Coaching Staff. Coach (Shawn) Nadalen and Coach (Anthony) Gilardi are great guys with a great passion for the game. I feel Towson is a school ready to compete for a National title and I am excited about the opportunity.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next season? “We are hoping to return to the MIAA B title game for the 3rd straight year and hoping for a 3 peat. We have a very strong team this year with some great players returning.”

Other schools considered: Cornell, Notre dame, Mercer, Richmond and High Point
