Grace Richards log:

Grace Richards

Grace Richards

High School: The John Carroll School

Graduation Year:
2015

Position: Attack

College choice: University of California Davis

Club Affiliation: NEMS (North East Maryland Select)

Lacrosse awards: US Lacrosse Magazine U15 national team

Honors and service: First Honors since freshman year, assistant coach to 8th grade Bel Air MYLA team

Intended major: “I really love science, so I was thinking maybe Biology or Nutrition.”

Why I Chose UC Davis: “I chose Davis not just because it was the most beautiful campus I have ever seen, but because I really fit in with the girls on the team. They were all so welcoming and nice. My coaches at UC Davis really understand me as a player, and they are a delight to play for. I had a lot of fun learning from them at the camp that I attended, and I really felt like I fit into their offense.”

Outlook for HS season: “Last year had its ups and downs, but all in all I felt like we had a lot of fun and learned a lot playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the nation. It was an honor to play for my former coach, Kristen Porcella. She will surely be missed. This year, with our new coach: Stephanie Maychack, I am very optimistic. She has given us a new perspective on the game, and she has brought us together not only as a team, but as a family. We are already learning tons, and are starting to work as a team even in our first few practices. I am very excited to show the IAAM conference our talent and skill. I am excited to take out team to the NEXT LEVEL.”

Other comments: “There is no one I would like to thank more than my Mom and Dad. They have been my support system through everything. They have helped my brother and I above and beyond with not only lacrosse, but everything else. They truly are the best parents any kid could ask for. I would also like to thank my brother, Ben. I am so proud that he has found his way to Quinnipiac. He has been my inspiration, role model, and best friend since day one. I know he is going to kill it in Connecticut, and I can’t wait to watch him do amazing things. I would also like to thank my NEMS team and coach, Natalie Rau. They have been like a second family to me, and without their help, I would not have been where I am today. My trainer Skeet Grimes and my former coach, Kristen Porcella, for gave me the confidence to play my best. Lastly, I’d like to thank anyone else who has ever supported me. Thanks to my Lady Patriot Lacrosse team for being my sisters. They have pushed me to be who I am today. I couldn’t have made it to where I am now without any of these people, and I am eternally thankful for them.”
