From Press Release

Archbishop Spalding (MD) has named former Maryland standout and Georgetown University assistant Brian Phipps as its boys’ lacrosse coach, athletic director Jeff Parsons announced Monday.

Phipps, a Severn School graduate, returns to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) A Conference. He was an assistant at Georgetown the past two years. At Maryland, he was a four-year starter in goal and earned All-American honors as a senior at Maryland and earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference academic team honors in each of his four years. He also was named a Scholar All-American in his senior year.

Phipps also has spent the past four years playing in Major League Lacrosse with the Machine and the Chesapeake Bayhawks.

Phipps replaces Kenneth “Bear” Davis, who went 25-31 in three seasons before accepting a full-time position with Major League Lacrosse’s Ohio Machine.

“We are very excited Coach Phipps will be heading our Men’s Lacrosse Program” said Parsons. “His knowledge of both the [Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference] and the area will prove a valuable resource as we continue to move the program forward.”
