Gerstell Academy (MD) 2016 midfielder Molly Blake has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Liberty University.
Molly Blake ledger:
High School: Gerstell Academy
Graduation Year: 2016
College Choice: Liberty University
Club Affiliation: Ravens Club
Lacrosse Honors: Fall Classic 2016 All-Star team, CALL League First team All-Conference sophomore year, leading goal scorer freshman and sophomore year on varsity
What will you major in/study? Nursing
Why did you choose Liberty? “I chose Liberty because of the homey feeling I got when I walked on campus for the first time. It is far enough away from home, but close enough that my family can come see my games. Everyone on campus just seems so happy all of the time. Liberty is a very new university, so they have amazing resources and facilities right at every student’s finger tips. I also love the faith aspect of the university and I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to glorify God on the lacrosse field.
“As for the lacrosse side, the team and coaches could not have been more welcoming. They took me in as one of their own right away. It is a fairly new program and is under a new coaching staff. It is more of a family than a team, and those are just some of the many reasons I cannot wait to join the Liberty Flames family in the fall of 2016.”
Outlook for 2015 HS team? “This year my team has a lot of potential to be great. We will compete in the CALL league for the second year. We made it to the conference championship, just fell short and finished runner up. This year we are looking to capture that conference championship. It should be a little bit of a challenge in the beginning because our starting goalie is still recovering from knee surgery, but I believe our team can overcome the challenge and it will only make us stronger.”
Thank You: “I would like to thank my parents for supporting me through these many years of lacrosse and coming to all of my games and tournaments. They always push me to be the best and are one of the many reasons why I reached my dream.
“I would like to thank my sister Georgia for always helping me become a better player through all of the practice in the backyard.
“I would like to thank my club and high school coaches Lindsay Johnson, Joanna Lignelli, Carrie Gamper, and Kristen McAfee for teaching me so much and helping me develop into a very competitive player.”
Other schools considered: Virginia Tech, American, La Salle
