US Lacrosse has sanctioned two boys’ lacrosse tournaments owned and operated by Corrigan Sports Enterprises as part of a new program to raise the quality of the youth tournament experience and publicize events that meet operational criteria developed by US Lacrosse and industry experts.US-lacrosse1 (1)

The Rumble in Richmond, Oct. 31-Nov. 1 in Richmond, Va., and the STX Paradise Shootout, Nov. 7-8 in Naples, Fla., represent US Lacrosse Sanctioned Tournaments, having been reviewed by the sport’s national governing body and deemed to meet best-practice standards in five categories: venue, game format, risk management, tournament administration, and certified US Lacrosse officials.

“The expansion of the youth lacrosse tournament marketplace led to a wide range of experiences for players and families, and our sanctioning program will help to raise the quality of the experience at participating events and to give parents, who foot the bill for their child’s participation, some peace of mind that a US Lacrosse Sanctioned Tournament meets certain standards for consistency and player safety,” said Beth Porreca, director of events at US Lacrosse. “We appreciate Corrigan Sports Enterprise’s participation as a pilot program in our sanctioning initiative.”

“For years, Corrigan Sports has taken great pride in our excellent event operations,” said Lee Corrigan, president of Corrigan Sports Enterprises. “The goal of events like the Rumble in Richmond and Paradise Shootout is to help grow the sport and provide an outstanding experience for players, coaches and parents. Being part of the US Lacrosse tournament sanctioning program provides an opportunity to develop a uniform approach to excellent lacrosse event operations across the nation. Making the Rumble in Richmond and Paradise Shootout US Lacrosse sanctioned events is just the first step in that process.”

As US Lacrosse Sanctioned Tournaments, the Rumble in Richmond and STX Paradise Shootout each will qualify three teams into each division of the US Lacrosse National Championships. That event will bring many of the best U13, U14 and U15 teams in the nation together in July 2016. Specific dates and a location for the US Lacrosse National Championships are expected to be announced soon.
